Different brushes for different painting styles
The technique used to create watercolor paintings varies from artists to
artist and so the usage of brushes. A botanical illustrator uses small sable
brushes while a painter might have a large selection of brushes. Apart from
the conventional brushes, various other brushes intended for DIY,
toothbrushes and nail brushes also find place in an artists collection.
Most ideal brush for watercolor paintings
The most expensive brush is the one made from the tail of red Siberian
mink. The sable hair has special qualities, which allow the brush to absorb
and hold the paint. Their springiness makes them ideal for watercolor
paintings. They are lovely to work with and last for a long time if cared
properly.
Less expensive brushes are made from sable mixed with squirrel, ox hair or
other fiber.
